Nutty Green Beans

Almonds add crunch and style to otherwise ordinary green beans. And since these are so easy to prepare, it’s a simple way to add an elegant side dish to your next holiday dinner. Serve them with  Carrots 

  3 pounds fresh or frozen green beans 
  6 tablespoons butter 
  1/2 cup chopped onion 
  3/4 cup coarsely chopped slivered almonds 
  2 teaspoons dried basil 
1 teaspoon salt

Preparation Time: 10 minutes  
Cooking Time: 10 minutes  
Serves 12

1. Cook the beans in a large saucepan of boiling water until tender; drain.  

2. In a large skillet over medium heat, melt the butter. Add the onion and cook until softened. Add the almonds and cook over medium-high heat until nuts begin to brown. Reduce heat to medium; add green beans, basil and salt. Stir until hot.
