Five-Hour Stew


2 lb. cubed stewing meat
3 each diced potatoes, diced carrots
1 large onion, diced
1 can (2 cups) tomatoes
1/2 cup water
3 tbsp. minute tapioca
1 tbsp. sugar
to taste salt and pepper


Directions

Brown meat in a a small amount of shortening. Combine with all other ingredients and turn into a covered casserole. Set oven temperature to 250º F. (125º C). Bake 5 hours. Can also be done in crockpot or slow cooker.
