Interior Decorations
* Add festivity to the whole house - every room possible (without overkill)
* Hang garland, lights
and ornaments from banisters, around doorways, on chandeliers, around large
framed art, around ceiling fans and around bathroom mirrors and shower rods.
Idea - Wrap up the refrigerator and freezer. Use your favorite wrapping paper
and bows to make a package that everyone can enjoy to open.
* The traditional colors of the holidays are red,
green, silver, and gold - but dare to be different use lime green, fuchsia,
yellow, and purple.
* Add holiday sparkle to any room by filling a bowl or a cylindrical vase with red, gold, or silver glass ball ornaments.
* Add little touches like red towels (or the new colors) and bath mats - make your bathroom festive.
* Place candles on a mantel, in a powder room, in the windows, or on the dining table. (Avoid scented candles for the dinner table. They compete with the aroma of the food.)
* One last touch is adding holiday spirit to the bedroom. Whimsical holiday flannel sheets, with reindeers and Santas, will help you keep your sense of humor during the holiday rush.
* Finally -- Light a
fire. There is nothing like the smell of a roaring fire in a fireplace during
the holidays. If you don't have a fireplace, create the illusion of one by
burning pinon or juniper incense.

The Front Door
Hang a pair of ice skates on a front door
decorated with with a big red bow.
A small, old fashioned sled (I own my mother's from when she was a child) tied up with holiday ribbons is a wonderful way to greet visitors on your front porch.
Fill a basket with holiday greeting cards and greenery. Add a bow and hang by the front door, or place on an entryway table.
For a touch of olden
charm, dangle sleigh bells from a
doorknob.

Decorate the hearth with
nature's finest. Arrange boughs of spruce and pine with rosy apples, wine-red
cranberries and holly for color.
Place baskets filled with giant Sequoia
pine cones and homespun fabric bows on end tables and coffee
tables.
Adorn the mantel with groupings of short colorful candles and tall elegnat ones surrounded by red berry clusters.
Hang delicate snowflakes from light fixtures and wall sconces.
Have the sweet scent of
Christmas perfume the house. Place a cinnamon stick in a jar of water and slip
behind the radiator in each room. The heated water will fill the air and carry
the scent throughout the house.
