Evergreens
Spread freshly cut Scotch pine boughs gracefully across the
mantel and above the windows. Wind green garlands around the banister - no
ribbons or ornaments - and on the landing at the top of the stairs place a
grouping of clay pots filled with green topiary trees.
Set the table with
a white cloth. Gather and pin the fabric up between the settings to create
graceful folds. Attach branches of evergreens tied with white satin ribbon at
these points on the tablecloth.
Decorate the table with a forest green
table cloth stenciled with white stars at random over the entire
cloth.
For a centerpiece, pile small artichokes into a large white
ceramic soup tureen.
Cover Styrofoam balls with strips of lush green
textured fabrics, like brocade, velvet or damask. Find a container to contrast
with the elegant fabric, such as a clay pot or primitive bowl for holding the
balls.
Place herbs in pots to make a clean, scented and refreshing
statement. Set the pots at different heights, using garden books with green and
white covers or an interesting box as props.
Use a silver champagne
bucket as a vase.
Use lots of red tulips as your sole decorating element
and fill vases to place at strategic spots where you need holiday
decoration.
