Sun Pickles
Amount Measure Ingredient -- Preparation
Method
1/2 cup salt
1 gallon water
1 tbls alum
garlic
cloves
dill
1 slice white bread
fresh crisp pickles (enough to fill
jar)
Bring salt, water and alum to a boil. Cut pickles in quarters or
chunks.
In gallon jar; put garlic and dill on bottom, middle and top layering with pickles.
Pour solution over top. Put slice of bread on top, cover; set in sun, 5-6 hours.
KEEP TURNING JAR! Ready to eat when brought in. Refrigerate.
