Blueberry Batter Cake

2 cups blueberries
Juice of 1/2 lemon
1/2 cup sugar
3 tablespoons butter
1/2 cup milk
1 cup all purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
1/4 teaspoon salt

Topping:
2/3 cup sugar
1 tablespoon cornstarch
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 cup boiling water

Oil or butter an 8 x 8 inch baking dish. Put cleaned berries into pan and sprinkle with lemon juice. Mix together flour, baking powder and salt. In a large mixing bowl, cream together 1/2 cup sugar and butter, then add milk alternately with flour mixture. Po ur batter over berries. With spatula spread batter, which will be very thick, as evenly as
possible over berries.

Combine 2/3 cup sugar, cornstarch and salt and sprinkle evenly over top of cake. Carefully pour boiling water over all. Bake in preheated 350 degree oven for 45 minutes to 1 hour, or until top is medium brown and slightly puffed. Serves 9 (or a lot less).
