Pita
Stuffed With Beef
1 Cup Plain Yogurt
1/2 Cup Red Wine
2 Tablespoons Olive Oil
1 Clove Garlic -- finely
chopped
1/2 Teaspoon Oregano
1/2 Teaspoon Salt
Pepper -- to taste
1 Pound Sirloin Steak -- cut
into strips
1 Tablespoon Butter
4 Large Pita Bread
3 Cups Lettuce -- chopped
1 Cup Tomato -- chopped
1 Cup Cucumber -- chopped,
optional
Thicken yogurt by placing it in
a cheese clothed lined sieve and allow to stand overnight in the
refrigerator. Next day, combine wine, oil, garlic, oregano, salt and
pepper. Pour wine marinade over beef strips and let stand for 1
hour. Drain and cook in hot butter. Serve beef stuffed into a pita,
topped with lettuce, tomato and cucumber.
