German Apple Cake

Use the recipe for cinnamon rolls dough.

When the dough is done Roll it out into a rectangle and spread it onto a cookie sheet.

Peel and core 4-6 apples.

Slice them into thin slices and arrange them in rows onto the dough. You can also try using plums or peaches. If you like peaches buy them hard not ripe and use instead of the apples.

Prepare a mixture of soft butter or margarine, about 1/8 cup.Add regular flour to it and sugar and mix it until it becomes coarse pea size "crumbs". If it is not crumbly enough simply add more flour and keep adding small amounts of flour until it separates into small crumbs.

You can also add cinnamon to that, if you like. Sprinkle the crumbs on the apple slices and let rise for a while.Bake at about 300 or 325 degrees for about 30 or 40 minutes.

Sorry I can@t give the exact amounts of the crumb mixture. It is an old family recipe and was never really measured precisely.

Enjoy fresh out of the oven.It is a wonderful treat and not too sweet.
